There are many beaches like this one on the Long Island Sound side of
the North Fork, many within a few minutes of downtown Greenport. When
I was asked to shoot the only image of the Long Island Sound that would
appear in the upcoming book "The Natural History of New York",
I looked at a number of these beaches to try to find one that would most
accurately represent these unique places.
East Marion's "Rocky Point" had all the things that make these
beaches so beautiful--the bluffs, the smooth pebble beaches, and the huge
boulders. This image is very detailed
and is also available in a horizontal
format.
